Census 1861 William was learning the wood turning trade with John Dixon of Addingham, Census 1871 he was married to Mary Ann and living at 6 Lane Inn in Steeton with his daughters Annie, Sarah J, Elizabeth, Mary and Alice. Census 1881 living at 2 Barrows Lane Steeton with all the above children and Maggie, Juliet, John and Harry. By 1881 Annie and Sarah had left home. In 1901 he lived at 32 Queen Street, Keighley and worked as a labourer in a wood yard. Julia, John and Harry were still at home.
